Belgian tech start-up Botronics has successfully closed a funding round through BAN Flanders, enabling the company to accelerate the development and international rollout of its innovative product ‘iXi’. The deal marks a significant milestone in Botronics’ journey to redefine the golfing experience through intelligent technology.
A caddy that thinks, follows, and advises
Botronics is developing ‘iXi’, a revolutionary electric and intelligent golf caddy that autonomously navigates the golf course and provides advice, as a professional caddy would do. Powered by robotics, AI, and advanced sensors such as stereoscopic cameras, GPS, and a Nvidia computer, iXi navigates independently, avoids obstacles, follows the golfer seamlessly and provides feedback on the game. After a round, players can analyze their performance through its phone application. Its compact, foldable design (weighing only 8 kg) makes it both user-friendly and premium.
Botronics targets a global market of 60 million golfers, aiming to appeal to both individual players and golf clubs. The first prototypes have been showcased at the PGA Show in Orlando and the CES in Las Vegas, with great success. The company has pre-sold 300 units in a record time (the first 125 got sold within the first 10 minutes). Full commercialization is set to begin in autumn 2026 via the brand’s website and an international distribution network. Botronics combines Belgian innovation with a clear vision: using technology to enhance the sporting experience.
Fueling growth and global expansion
Thanks to this investment, Botronics can accelerate the production of the first series of iXi golf caddies, expand its team, and enter the international market. The funds will be used for product industrialisation, marketing campaigns, and the internationalisation. Additionally, investments will be made in software development to enhance personalized game analysis and user experience. This capital injection is essential to transform an innovative prototype into a commercial success and to strengthen Botronics’ position as a pioneer in sports technology.
I was immediately impressed by the Botronics team and their ability to turn a bold idea into a tangible product. The iXi caddy is not just smart technology, it’s a glimpse into the future of sports. I look forward to supporting Botronics as they scale internationally.Eric Denivelle, Business Angel
